Cosmetic Crowns

If you are looking for restorative dentistry procedures to restore damaged teeth or to enhance your smile, cosmetic crowns may offer the solution you seek. At Iocca Family Dentistry, we are proud to use cutting-edge technology and trusted techniques to ensure you receive the best available restorations!

What are Dental Crowns?

Dental crowns or caps are restorations we use to repair and strengthen damaged teeth or to repair their size, shape, or appearance. They fully encase the part of the tooth visible above the gum line or a dental implant. We offer cosmetic crowns made of porcelain which can be matched to surrounding teeth, delivering a natural appearance.

Crowns are typically used to restore the function and appearance of teeth following restorative procedures such as a root canal therapy. They can also strengthen and preserve teeth that are significantly weakened or damaged due to advanced caries, injuries, or breakage.

Crowns are also used to cap implants and to attach bridges. They can restore teeth worn due to grinding (bruxism) and are often used for aesthetic purposes, to correct the appearance of misshaped, stained, or imperfect teeth. You will love how natural your restorations look and feel!

What is the Procedure?

First, we will prepare your tooth by filing it down to make room for your dental crown. Next, we will take an impression of your mouth to be sent to our dental laboratory that will fabricate your restoration. We will place a temporary crown, and when your permanent one is ready, we will check for proper fit and cement it into place.

Partial Crowns

Inlays and onlays, otherwise known as partial crowns, are used to restore teeth that are too damaged for dental fillings but do not have enough damage to warrant the use of dental crowns. Inlays will typically cover the damaged chewing surface of a tooth, while onlays will replace one or more tooth cusps. Partial crowns are incredibly durable, lasting 30 years or more with proper care!

Caring for Your Dental Crowns

Make sure to brush your teeth at least twice daily and floss every day. It's imperative that you keep up with your visits to your dentist's office every six months for checkups and cleanings to ensure that your mouth stays healthy and your restorations continue to function well. Proper care will ensure the longevity of your dental crowns.
