Implant Placement & Restoration
Are you missing one or more of your teeth and looking for ways to restore your smile? If so, dental implants offer an excellent tooth replacement option, without having to deal with removable dentures or bridges. You will love how natural your restorations look, feel and function!
What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are titanium posts surgically placed into your jawbone to act as replacements for natural tooth roots. They provide solid bases to support artificial teeth also known as crowns. Abutments are connectors we set on your implants to hold your replacement teeth in place.
The Dental Implant Advantage
Dental implants are today’s choice restorative solution for tooth loss. They provide the stability you need to speak confidently and to chew all your favorite foods! Implants help prevent a sagging and sunken appearance by retaining your facial structure.
Dental implants are the only restorations that act like natural tooth roots, preventing bone loss and protecting the surrounding teeth. Best of all, your dental implants offer a long-term solution, with the potential of lasting a lifetime with proper care!
Are You a Candidate?
You will need sufficient bone density to support the implant and must be willing to commit to a strict oral hygiene regimen. However, not having an adequate bone density doesn’t necessarily rule you out as a candidate. There are options, including bone grafting, to help ensure the success of implantation.
What is the Dental Implant Procedure?
We will start your implant surgery by numbing the area using local anesthesia and also offer sedation options for your comfort. We will surgically place a titanium post into your jawbone. The surrounding bone will need several months to heal and bond with your implant in a process called osseointegration.
After healing, we will place an abutment to attach your crown to your implant. After the soft tissue to heals, we will make an impression of your mouth to fabricate your crown. If you are restoring multiple missing teeth, we may recommend implant-supported bridges or dentures.
The process will typically take several months to complete while waiting for healing. We may provide you with temporary restorations so that you won’t have to go without teeth a single day!
Caring for Your Dental Implants
Brush at least twice a day, and floss and use antimicrobial mouthwash daily. Make sure to keep up with your professional checkups and cleanings so we can ensure that your mouth is clean and that your restorations are in tip-top shape!
If there are special health risks you may be referred to an oral surgeon.
